# Network readiness

Foundry Connect validates that the deployment environment can use the network before Foundry Deploy continues.

## Ethernet

Review:

* Adapter detection.
* Cable and link state.
* IPv4 address.
* Default gateway.
* DHCP or static configuration state.

## Wi-Fi

When Wi-Fi is enabled, you can:

* Refresh visible networks.
* Select a network.
* Enter or reveal a passphrase when required.
* Use a provisioned profile.
* Connect or disconnect.

## Common waiting states

* No supported network adapter.
* Ethernet cable disconnected.
* Waiting for DHCP.
* No visible Wi-Fi networks.
* Incorrect wireless password or network settings.
* Provisioned profile unavailable.
* Network present but required services unreachable.

Use the available refresh or retry action after correcting the cause. See [Network and Foundry Connect troubleshooting](/troubleshooting/network.md) when readiness does not complete.

Do not close Foundry Connect as a workaround. Closing the application aborts the bootstrap workflow.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.foundryosd.com/foundry-connect/network-readiness.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
