# Foundry Connect

Foundry Connect runs in Windows PE before deployment. It reports network state and allows the technician to establish connectivity required by Foundry Deploy.

## Runtime sequence

1. Boot the target device from Foundry deployment media.
2. Wait for Windows PE and Foundry Connect to initialize.
3. Review Ethernet status.
4. Select and connect to Wi-Fi when it is enabled and wired access is unavailable.
5. Continue after Foundry reports network readiness.

Foundry Connect may continue automatically after readiness is established. The interface shows the connection state, configuration source, refresh timing, and latest update.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Closing Foundry Connect aborts the bootstrap workflow. It does not bypass network readiness or continue to Foundry Deploy.
{% endhint %}

See [Network readiness](/foundry-connect/network-readiness.md) for status details.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.foundryosd.com/foundry-connect.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
